| lDr Jim O'Neill, CEO
During his time at JDSU, Dr O'Neill was a member of the executive team during the share price ramp from US$16 to US$146. Dr O'Neill previously founded an income tax software company which was the first to allow users to electronically submit their returns to Revenue Canada. This company experienced 5 years of rapid growth in sales and profits under Dr. O'Neill's leadership before being sold. It subsequently was purchased by Intuit, the manufacturers of Quicken.Other technical and commercial successes in Dr O'Neill's long and varied career include development of a new technology for galvanizing steel which saved a 300M$ steel plant in Thailand from closure, and an award winning remote vibration sensor for nuclear reactors which allowed measurements normally requiring shutdown of the reactor for a month to be completed while the reactor was operational. This vibration sensor delivered audited savings of $75M in its first year of use. Dr O'Neill's achievements in Autonomous Systems were recognized when a robot he designed placed second in the prestigious Trinity Fire Fighting competition against world wide competition.
